A demonstration of innovative deployable antenna technology in microgravity on the ISS
Startup company NSLComm develops wideband telecommunication nanosatellites featuring a space-deployed antenna constructed fro proprietary flexible materials. Due to the antenna’s structural instability in Earth’s gravity, deployment and shape testing must occur in microgravity conditions. While parabolic flights can simulate such conditions without launching into orbit, they offer only brief periods of microgravity, typically around 20 seconds. An experiment under prolonged microgravity conditions is essential for completing the antenna’s proving stage.
