Urine testing with real-time analysis on the ISS
With space missions becoming longer and more common, astronauts will require a range of diagnostic tools to monitor their health, including urinalysis kits. Urinalysis is a standard diagnostic tool for various health conditions, from metabolic issues to kidney function abnormalities. While kidney function in space has been studied, in previous studies, urine samples were collected in space and analyzed back on Earth. In this study, ACR (albumin-to-creatinine ratio) urine tests were administered in space with the results available in real time, allowing astronauts to independently monitor their kidney function.
