This experiment sought to test whether moringa seed powder (which absorbs contaminants) and copper fragments which kill bacteria, can purify water on a spacecraft. This offers a simpler and more cost-effective alternative to current water purification methods. This technique could be used on long-duration space  missions and on the ISS in the future. Furthermore, the findings could  enhance water purification in developing nations. The results could pave the  way for growing moringa — a superfood — on the ISS and potentially even Mars, as its high nutritional value and use in water purification make it especially well-suited for these purposes.
